Well its that time of the year..., Does anyone know if I can add my spouse as dependent and get the tax break. Is there any website where I can get the information on filing procedures with H1 and H4?

I'm a new member on this forum and my case got transferred to MOUNT LAUREL, NJ office.
History:
My 485 was filed in NSC in July'2007.
I have 2 I-140 petitions, and dates are current(Eb2 India).
Code 3 FP done in Dec'2007 and Name check and FBI background checks cleared.
Case got transferred from NSC to local office in April'2009
After about 8 days of transfer to the local office I received Code 1 Finger print notices.
What does that mean? Any one had similar experiences?

We transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our MOUNT LAUREL, NJ location for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. I have a I-485 pending (receipt date 7/19/07) with the USCIS. The situation is my company (Company A) has now officially laid me off and my last date is on November 16, 2007. I have spoken to them about the possibility of extending this date till Mid January 08, but it is NOT GOING TO Happen. Nov 16 will be my last date.
I have an offer from a different employer (Company B) for a SIMILAR job. I have an approved I-140 from the original employer and have assurances that they are NOT going to withdraw the I-140, since this is a company layoff and no fault of mine.
My questions are the following:
1. What is USCIS view when they see the new H1B transfer petition? Will they reject my I-485?
2. If I take a job with Company B, starting Nov 17, can I use AC21 and send in the letter after January 15 (180 days pending).
3. Do I have any other options here (I dont have EAD yet, just applied last week)
Your responses would be greatly appreciated. Please help.

approved and do not have AP and EAD ?? (I cannot apply for I-485 and also AP/EAD as

How important is it to have a letter from the client for h4 to h1. Though the person has the paystubs till date.

It is advisable to have the letter just incase if the officer asks for it. Although in my case, the officer did not ask for the letter.

After a long 5 years I finally received 485 case approved letter for both my case and my spouse's case. However the online status still shows pending. Is this common?. How long would it take for the online case status to be updated.

Only H1 transfers have no cap, apart from non-profits.......

This is really news to me. I thought once you switch to H4 from H1, your H1 is gone. To come back on H1, you have to re-apply which will be subjected to cap.
Are you sure on this? If this is true, this can be really helpful for some folks.

Hi Guys
As all of us know that the renewal process for EADs will start from end Feb for people who were short changed last year and had lost 3 months on their EAD renewals in EAD. USCIS had issued record number of EADs by June end last year to avoid giving 2 year EADs and those people are coming up for renewal now.
So to me it looks like a pure scam. Move the dates significantly ahead since if the PD is current then they only need to issue 1 year EAD and then move them back next month or so.
Keep milking the cow as current PDs do not neccessarily mean getting green. Just my 2 cents.

If she is qualified enough ask her to find a new employer who is willing to sponsor her a H1B.
She can transfer her status from H-4 to H1B and it will not be counted against the annual H1B quota.
Ppl please at least give a disclaimer. This sentence, said with such authority is completely false! The ONLY way you are not counted against the annual H1B quota is if you are RENEWING your existing H1B (and you have years left on it of course).
Think before you write..

Thank you for all your support. Quick update. Our video now has 1439 viewings, 132 ratings and 38 comments (as at 4:15pm EDT 7/9). This has resulted in us having the #32 top rated video of the week in News and Politics. Your support has been wonderful and thank you for your positive comments.
We have looked at a large number of the other videos in the competition and we certainly have a much higher rating and viewings than any of the videos other than the ones posted in the first week of the competition. Sadly we dont want to monitor them as every time we check their score it rates as another viewing for them :p
We remain hopeful that our moderate position on a difficult topic may give us an edge but who knows. My son is dying to pose a supplementary to the video question about the byzantine process we all have to endure.
Will keep you updated.

I can say for sure, Canada PR is not going to work because I went through the same situation and I was not allowed to board British Airways flight in Hyderabad with Canada PR and US AP.
I am still fighting with BA for getting an refund.

When you get a new H1-B approval you get a new I94 too in the mail .You are supposed to staple it to the old I-94 (I think this instruction is contained somewhere within the new I-94). When you leave the US you are supposed to hand over both I-94 cards (no exceptions). When you come back you get a new I-94 at immigration. The I-94 is a entry/exit departure tracking mechanism and if this record does not show up correctly when you are coming back in you may be in for some problems.

From my calibrated 213T but in my non-profile-aware browser, the blacks are nice and dark while retaining "enough" detail. :)
