What I'm going to tell you to do is illegal. So do it at your own risk.
I don't think USCIS is ever going to find out about your income unless you disclose it.
Not filing tax returns is illegal no matter how small the income is. 5k is definitely big enough. I think you should go ahead and file tax returns atleast for 2009, so that you won't get into trouble with the IRS.

I think next month its predicted that the Visa numbers will move forward and then retrogress again...so in October(next financial year) again there may be forward movement..what do you guys think!

I'm sorry to react so strongly, also... It's important to remember that being there with the right light at the right time is what matters. Even if you've just got a drebel with the 18-55 or a d?0 with the 18-70, using the lenses at their strong points will make nice 11x14's or maybe even 16x20's depending on your taste for putting nose grease on your prints. ;)

According to my experience it doesnt make a difference whom you contact. I would suggest contact all (both senators of your state and local congressperson). It has no negative bearing on your case. I would also suggest
that you contact the ombudsman. You never know whats going to click in the end.

Yes, one has to do everything. It helps solve the issue from all directions. It helps educate law makers about issues, also allows Ombudsman's office to understand common issues.
On another note, if anyone is having issues with their petitions and need help, you can also contact IV, send a message or post it on the forum.
Post issues on various forums on the internet too helps

I see no harm in contacting him; but your excitement about Chandrasekharan seems curious to me. When people who have themselves immigrated from India (who now have GC/citizenship) are so indifferent about us, how can you expect a second generation indian journalist to "understand" our problems ? He does not seem to have done any articles on immigration; so there is no objective way for us to say whether he is really sympathetic to us or not.
Remember that even anti-immigration organizations like numbersUSA have lots of members who are immigrants themselves or have immigrant parents.

Hi, I recently got a H1B extension stamping in Chennai consulate upto 2010 and I came back to SFO last week. Since my passport is expiring on July 2009. I-94 was issued upto July 2009.
Now my issue is to extend my I-94 upto the validity of H1B visa. I went through similar thread and it says crossing US border to Mexico or Canada will do to get the new I-94. So I am planning to make a trip to Mexico after my passport got renewed to renew I-94. Does it work?. Or do I have to go out of American Continent to get the new I-94. Some thread from (other sites) said, I need to go out American Continent..Is it true?.
Or is there any other way to extend my I-94 without crossing the border?.
Gurus - Please help if you faced any similar situation and sucessfully got your i-94 renewed.

Yes, you can do this if you are from country that allows you to enter Canada without Canadian visa. Then, you would need to give away your previous I-94 and get a new one upon re-entry to the United States. The problem is that some airlines don't want to take I-94 back if they know you are not traveling for over 30 days to Canada. This is especially true if you enter Canada via road. Somehow, it is best to explain why you need to give your old I-94 away. If they don't take your old I-94, you can ask an immigration officer for a new I-94, explaining the situation. Then, if lucky, he takes your old I-94 and issues a new one with correct date.

I did a lot of research and found very little information on an established process of "firing" one's attorney and moving to self-represent the I485 application. Most resources talk about submitting a new G-28 form from a new attorney. What if I don't want an attorney to represent me anymore? is there a form for that?

Hey everyone,
I am from Florida and just filed my I-485. I went to the DMV yesterday to renew my drivers license and something unexpected happened. They took away my old license and gave a temporary one valid for 30 days. They also said they will have to verify my immigration status and once this is done they will mail my new drivers license. Has anyone had such an experience? How long did it take to get your new license?

Other alternative is to have your employer run the payroll for 5000 and deduct 500 from your adjusted gross income when you file taxes.
