I think what most people are missing is that we've seen the future of the iPod with the iPhone. Look for a revamp of the iPod by the end of the year or early next. Same size but with the features of the iPhone but without the iPhone stuff. The new iPod interface is slick and Apple's not going to limit it to just the iPhone. The rest of us who are locked into contracts with Verizon and Sprint, or don't want an all-in-one deal still want the cool features of the new iPhone. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a revamp of the enitre line. iPhone, iPDA(no phone but PDA like features), iPod, iTablet, etc. all based on this new technology.
It's too cool to think it will stay only on the iPhone. That's what I think anyway.

What's the point of using Lotus Notes at all?
Any SMART company could be encrypting all their secure e-mail with PGP encryption.
I suppose these IT administrators feel better knowing they can read the content
of all your e-mails which makes their jobs more secure.

Prisons, therefore, have no business trying to mete out punishment by making convicts miserable. It serves no useful purpose and I believe is actually counterproductive in that it breeds resentment toward society in the heart of the prisoner. Everything we do to make the prisoner (who may be released at some point) miserable reduces the likelihood that they can successfully rejoin society.
I wholeheartedly agree.

One of the most insidious and prevalent injuries suffered by soldiers in war is post-traumatic stress disorder. It effects their ability to relate to people and to return to a normal life when they return home. I will bet that for many, prison has the same effect. In fact, a quick search finds that to be the case.

The trends include increasingly harsh policies and conditions of confinement as well as the much discussed de-emphasis on rehabilitation as a goal of incarceration. As a result, the ordinary adaptive process of institutionalization or "prisonization" has become extraordinarily prolonged and intense. Among other things, these recent changes in prison life mean that prisoners in general (and some prisoners in particular) face more difficult and problematic transitions as they return to the freeworld. A range of structural and programmatic changes are required to address these issues. Among other things, social and psychological programs and resources must be made available in the immediate, short, and long-term. That is, modified prison conditions and practices as well as new programs are needed as preparation for release, during transitional periods of parole or initial reintegration, and as long-term services to insure continued successful adjustment.
We are doing our society, as well as these prisoners a grave disservice by continuing to subject them to these conditions.

Hmm...are Address Book and iCal going to get the same treatment? It would be great for .Mac to finally have an offering that competes with what Yahoo, Google, etc. have been providing for free for quite some time...
...or could it go even farther? What about an online version of iWeb, where you could edit and publish webpages directly from the browser, with drag-n-drop and all that goodness.

Or how about the iPhone having mobile blogging software that will publish blog entries to a blog on your .Mac website? These are all features that other phones and websites offer, but the difference for Apple would be the seamlessness of the Mac/iPhone/.Mac integraton...

I didn't get a 4 because I was holding out for a bigger screen. I really want to keep buying Apple products. But at this point, if the phone is delayed or the screen is staying the same size, I am going to have to start checking out some of the HTCs. My 3G is almost unusable since OS4.Enjoy! HTC looks a very capable phone. Cheers! It sounds like you need an upgrade, too. I'm on the original iPhone — but I know whatever I buy will have to do me for 2-3 years so I'm waiting on iPhone 5, no matter what.

But we have to realize that Apple does not want to be predictable. We don't really know just exactly how the JAPAN devastation affected Apple and how it will deliver its products. That could be very well what has delayed things. If this is the case, patience is all we can give anybody at this point. They lost so much.

I'm from the UK, where capital punishement was abolished in 1969. Here in the UK we would love capital punishement to be reintroduced, a life for a life as they say. But it makes me wonder how someone can play god. Of course people who have murdered other people are kind of playing God, but in most cases, these attacks are not pre-planned, and really messy. Most murders are in defence or panic, also a lot of pre-planned. But someone playing God, deciding who lives and dies, I think it's kind of crazy sometimes. How can anyone be allowed to play god, how can 1 human, or 12 humans decide if another human dies in a controlled way. But I do agree that if you take a life, your life should be taken. But it still makes me think lots about it, I was in really deep thought about it a few nights ago. Here in the UK the law is fail, 2 years for killing someone. No common sense here in the UK. :mad:

That's normal. More "complex" songs require a higher bitrate in order to reproduce all of the original sound.

I think some decent smart minds need to sit together, and work out this whole patent problem thing... It's getting ridiculous. They should just open it up to everybody. F$&# it, may the best company win then.

Because if you opt out on the iPad app they don't get your information at all.
They will need this information to offer you a better deal once they come out with the HTML5 version of their app. At that point they will bypass the Apple store and its 30% cut altogether. You will pay less for the content and FT will make more money then they do now.
It's a win-win for both you and FT. Apple, well, not so much.
